A labour of love

The creation of the e-Emporium is quite a story in itself and no mean feat for the fantastic team I’ve had helping me through every step of this project. You might enjoy some behind the scenes insight.

Capturing the essence of the retail store was at the heart of the design brief, and finding a location where we could recreate the much loved store ambience might have proved challenging. The perfect setting was right on my doorstep in fact. We spent a magical day ‘on location’ at Indooroopilly, the former home of Barbara Blackman - poet, author and patron of the arts (who was previously the wife and muse of artist Charles Blackman). This significant gathering place for philosophers, writers, poets, artists, performers and the literary set in the 80s and 90s was a dream setting. My lovely neighbours, the current owners, allowed us free rein to add a Juniper Hearth flavour to their unique home.

The Berry Sourdough Cafe, which is the favourite haunt for us locals and many visitors alike, provided another perfect backdrop with Freya and Jelle generously permitting our invasion one sunny Tuesday in September.

The entire project has been brilliantly orchestrated by the quiet achievers at Handmade Web. From the tapestry of texture in the design to technical tutorials, they have so competently and patiently steered me through the process, and deserve a standing ovation for taking on someone like me who might know a thing or two about textiles but was clueless about shopping carts and SEO!!

The radiant photography was down to Elbow Room Productions, another talented and patient duo. I had browsed Sophie’s gallery of family portraits at Kisschasey Photography - her passion and speciality - and it brought tears to my eyes!

In the spotlight, Danielle, Amy, Felicity and Emma smiled tirelessly and looked gorgeous. Our stalwart, Jane, played wardrobe mistress and kept the troops fed and watered, while Lynne held the fort back at HQ. Jenn beavered away with related PR strategies, and Bob cracked jokes!!

And where was I in all this!?

Welcome to the e-Emporium
